How to Cite a Book in IEEE
Complete guide with examples for citing print books, ebooks, edited volumes, and book chapters in IEEE style.
Basic Format: Print Book (Single Author)
IEEE uses initials followed by surname. Book titles are italicized and in title case. Include edition if not the first.

In‑Text Citation

Book with Multiple Authors
List all authors up to six. For more than six, list the first author followed by “et al.”

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to include the city of publication?
Yes. IEEE requires the city, and for U.S. locations, the state abbreviation. For other countries, include the country name.
How do I cite a translated book?
Include the translator's name after the title: Title, trans. A. A. Translator. Place: Publisher, Year.
